VOYAGE
The Actual and Properly Truthful Account of the Emigration of Thomas Pender
Welcome to a project in development.
“We can never go back in time to time as it was, because it wasn’t.
It was many things...” --Jeanette Winterson
We have begun work on a new production, which takes to the seas.
VOYAGE interrogates the ambiguities inherent in retelling history. Devised from the shipboard diaries of 1880s emigrant Thomas Pender, it articulates an episode of our migrant experience and asks: who are the authorities of Australian history?
Our first stage development is now underway, with a showing for industry peers on Friday 3 February at 5pm at Arts House, Meat Market (Studio B). Let us know if you’re interested in attending.
We are thrilled that our VOYAGE team has been invited to Albury-Wodonga as part of HotHouse Theatre's "A Month in the Country" residency program. Tamara and the team will use the residency for the work's Stage Two development in September 2012.
